Spotlight On COMEDY

LAUGH IN LA

Ten years ago, the Lewiston Auburn comedy scene was non-existent. Today, the Twin Cities are not only the comedy hub of Maine,  but also known for being a hotbed for hilarity. Home to a plethora of weekly and monthly shows in venues ranging from craft breweries to historic churches, you can stop in and find a variety of local comedians sharing the stage with regional favorites from Boston and beyond.

The Lewiston Auburn comedy scene also offers opportunities for anyone to get started in stand-up. From a beginner’s class offered through Lewiston Adult Education, to workshops and open-mics, there’s no shortage of chances to get on stage, whether you’re telling your first joke or honing a polished set.

From open mic nights and weekly comedy shows in the Great Falls Comedy Club at Craft Brew Underground in Auburn, to monthly events at Obscura Café and Drinkery and The Colisée Club in Lewiston, and yearly gatherings for the Wicked Funny Laugh Off Comedy Contest at Lost Valley  and the Bricks and Bridges Comedy Festival; you don’t have to work hard to find a night of good laughs.

BRICKS & BRIDGES

Established in 2019, the Bricks & Bridges Comedy Fest serves as a celebration of laughter in LA. The Fest features over 40 comedians and multiple shows over four nights. Along with a healthy representation of the local scene, Bricks & Bridges welcomes a variety of New England’s best, many of whom consider LA their second comedy home.
